Dimensions, Weights & Tolerances
Investment casting tends to be best suited towards intricate, precision engineering of complicated parts that cannot be made using other methods. At Texmo Blank we specialise in delivering high-quality investment castings that meet the exacting requirements of a wide range of industries. Our cutting-edge processes allow us to produce complex, detailed parts with exceptional accuracy.
Below you can find an introduction to the specifications we work within. If you would like more details about the dimensions, weights and tolerances we can work to for specific details, you can get in touch with our team.
Dimensions
These are the dimensions to which investment casting is typically best suited.
Our investment casting capabilities support a diverse range of component sizes. We can produce castings with dimensions from as small as a few millimetres up to large-scale parts, with the following size ranges:
- Minimum size: 5x5x5mm
- Maximum size: 600x600x600mm
Whether you need intricate, small-scale components or larger, more robust parts, we offer flexible solutions tailored to your project needs.
Weights
Our process accommodates a broad spectrum of part weights, providing you with lightweight precision parts or heavier-duty components, depending on your project requirements:
- Minimum weight: 2g
- Maximum weight: 25kg
This versatility makes our investment castings suitable for a wide range of industries, including aerospace, automotive, industrial machinery, and more. Note: The maximum weight of 25kg can be surpassed for maximum weight with special considerations.
Tolerances
Precision is at the core of what we do. Our investment casting process delivers parts with tight tolerances, reducing the need for post-casting machining and ensuring that your components meet exact specifications.
For parts requiring even higher precision, we can offer tighter tolerances through secondary processes such as CNC machining or grinding. Our standard tolerances include:

FAQs
Do dimensions matter in investment casting?
There are certain projects for which investment casting is best suited – primarily intricate, complicated items that require a level of detail not viable using other methods.
Is there a weight limit to investment casting metals?
There is no ‘official’ weight limit for investment casting, and some heavy parts are made this way. However, there may be more suitable methods for particularly heavy items. Contact us to discuss a project if you are unsure what manufacturing process best suits you.
What tolerances can you expect in investment casting?
The investment casting process is capable of tight, repeatable tolerances thanks to its precise nature. Part configuration and dimensions have an impact on tolerance capability, so tolerance can vary depending on your design. However, generally you can expect around 1% of the nominal dimension.
Investment casting does not break the mould to divest the pattern and uses highly engineered ceramic shells. This means that investment casting results in a much smoother surface finish.
